In Europe, air traffic is still not fully recovered in June. According to the latest figures from Eurocontrol, traffic (the number of flights in European skies) is still down by almost 7.6%, despite an improvement compared to the same month in 2022.
Air traffic is improving, the recovery is undeniable, and 2019 may no longer be the reference year in a few quarters.

According to a press release, traffic levels in parts of Europe during June 2023 were either the same or higher than in June 2019. Specifically, some areas in southeastern Europe had traffic levels resembling those from 2019. In June of this year, 960,298 movements were recorded, a 7.6% decrease from June 2019. However, there was an increase of almost 7% compared to the same month in 2022.
Based on the most recent daily data July will experience a continued decline in air traffic. Specifically, the first 12 days have decreased by approximately 7%.
Nevertheless, passengers in the region can enjoy some good news as the delays caused by air traffic regulations have decreased by 8%. This result in a shorter wait time of 3.7 minutes per flight.
